Cookies and local storage
Last updated: October 2026
This page explains what megapok.com stores in your browser. It is written from the website's actual code, not from a template.
In short
- megapok.com does not use advertising or analytics cookies, nor third-party measurement tools (such as Google Analytics or social media pixels).
- Our code does not create cookies. What the website needs to remember is kept in your browser's local storage (localStorage and sessionStorage), which is not sent to our servers on every visit.
- Some third-party services you use inside the website (Google or Apple sign-in, reCAPTCHA, payments) may set their own cookies on their own domains.
What the website needs to work
- Your session. If you sign in, Firebase Authentication (Google) keeps it in local storage so you don't have to sign in every time. Signing out deletes it.
- A random browser identifier. It is created when you sign in with your phone and used for security, like the device identifier described in the Privacy Policy.
Your preferences
Light or dark theme, language, the country chosen when typing your phone number, video volume, whether you collapsed the side menu, the last Explore tab and your Studio preferences.
To make the website open faster
- A temporary copy of data you already loaded (for example, the feed), capped at about 350 KB, which replaces itself.
- Your recent searches, the stories you already watched, posts you marked as «Not interested» and chat profile data, so they are not requested again.
- Only while the tab is open (sessionStorage): that you already closed the notice to download the app, so it is not shown again.
The information pages
These pages (home, apps, plans, help center and legal documents) store nothing in your browser, except the legal documents, which remember for one hour the operator's name read from our public configuration.
Third-party services
- Google or Apple sign-in: the window is served by Firebase Authentication (sabanetavip.firebaseapp.com) and by Google or Apple, under their own policies.
- Google reCAPTCHA: loaded invisibly when you request an SMS code on the website, to stop abuse.
- Wompi: if you top up your balance, the payment happens on Wompi's page, with its own cookies and policies.
How to control it
You can delete megapok.com's data from your browser settings or use a private window. If you block storage, the website still opens but will not remember your session or preferences.
Changes
If we ever add analytics or advertising, we will update this page first. The iPhone and Android apps are covered by the Privacy Policy.
